Summary:

The Materials Procurement Specialist II will be responsible for company purchasing procedures and selecting the best vendor based on pricing, quality, and DMW&H’s needs.  Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand.

Reports to:  Materials Procurement Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Procurement proficiency required
  • High school diploma/GED required (Associate degree, or relevant work experience preferred)
  • Certified in APICS preferred
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and decision-making skills
  • Interpersonal skills to relate to all levels of Engineering and Project Management
  • Proven history of effective supply management
  • Proficient in Great Plains Accounting System, SAP, or other ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commitment Required. Able to set and meet goals; sincere care for others; overwhelming desire to win and to be part of a winning team.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Purchase Orders and Sales Orders from Material Requisitions with suppliers, vendors
  • Confirm purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining approval from Project Engineering for substitutions when necessary
  • Ensure all PO’s have the updated current delivery dates
  • Communicate with Project Management, the Installation Team, and the vendor for any project date change
  • Work with Engineering and Warehouse to manage inventory/inventory reduction/depletion
  • Collaborate with AR/Billing for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation
  • Maintain all purchasing records and documents and work with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies related to price and receiving
  • Notify vendors and handle returns for shipments in error from suppliers
  •  Investigate Supplier delivery problems as required
  • Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders to maintain job schedules and contact vendors when there are discrepancies
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior team members to support their development. Establish effective working relationships with peers and interfacing teams
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
