Summary:

Responsible for providing expertise and leadership in meeting and/or exceeding Federal and State OSHA requirements, local regulations and customer expectations for maintaining safe work behaviors and environments in all offices and worksites.  This is achieved by assuring that specific hazard assessments, employee education and feedback, site audits and the management of change process is successfully coordinated.

Qualifications:

  • College graduate/equivalent training in employee health and safety which meets certification requirements for CHST, OSHA 500 or other applicable core qualifications.
  • Must have a minimum of 7 years direct safety-related experience.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft: Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all employees including Management Team, Project Managers, Field Superintendents, Supervisors, Mechanics, Skilled Trades, in addition to the customer and their representatives.
  • Must have excellent organization and communication skills (i.e., verbal and written).
  • Must have the ability to successfully embrace an environment of ambiguity, change and problem resolution.
  • Certified or ability to become certified in Both OSHA 1926 (Construction) and OSHA 1910 (General Industry).
  • Experience working on industrial or construction projects.
  • Ability to travel 30%

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain programs required for health, safety and customer specific requirements.
  • Maintain, revise, and distribute, as appropriate, DMW&H’s Health & Safety Manual.
  • Attend Project Kickoff meetings to determine project scope, schedule and customer specific safety requirements. Identify project specific potential hazards and assess the associated risk and provide technical support to project managers. Follow up with subcontractor representatives to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Assist with hazard assessment and the development of detailed risk-mitigation tools as a joint responsibility of the site superintendent, supervisors, mechanics, and the project manager.
  • In the event of a safety incident, accident, or near-miss, work directly with the site superintendent/supervisor/project manager to assure that the occurrence is properly investigated, documented, communicated with the customer (as required) and immediate corrective measures are put in place.
  • Assist human resource personnel to develop and update emergency response plans and with claim(s) management. This process is to be expedient with minimal delays and conform with OSHA Reporting guidelines.
  • Identify, provide and coordinate safety training for individual worksites. Training responsibilities include but are not limited to OSHA 30 safety training for both Construction and General Industry. Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance and identify hazards
  • Provide direction and facilitation in OSHA / EPA / Environmental System compliance audits.
  • Attend on-site safety meetings during project start-up across the United States
  • Partner with PSG-Maintenance management to audit fleet portal software (telemetry), produce and distribute reports to Field Maintenance drivers & managers regarding employee compliance with safety policies.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining policies for fleet safety.
  • Partner with PSG-Maintenance management to ensure vehicle maintenance plans are followed by the group utilizing appropriate metrics.
  • Identify individuals requiring additional driver safety training and set driver parameters based on metrics.
  • Partner with Dearborn groups to share best practices, participate in claims review processes and attend recommended workshops.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining safety policies to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries for all employees including at-home remote workers.
  • Partner with human resources to update and maintain contagious disease protocols.
  • Partner with Fairfield, NJ Facilities Manager to ensure a safe workspace including inclement weather decisions.
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
